Turkey

The 4-H Turkey project is an amazing choice for any youth who are new to raising 4-H animals because of the fact that they are the smallest singular market animal, they are fairly inexpensive and they don't require much equipment or training. They are also a popular choice among youth who have previously participated in the chicken project due to the fact that turkeys are similar in care and temperament aspects, but are a slightly larger animal to manage. When beginning the process of raising turkeys the poults (baby turkeys) will need to be kept in a brooder with a heat lamp until they are fully feathered and large enough to begin their lives outdoors. Once they get larger, youth can begin practicing flipping and walking their turkeys in preparation for the fair .
