The 4-H Sheep project is an excellent learning experience for any youth looking for a more hands on animal project. Sheep need a bit more care due to the fact that they have wool, which means they need to be not only groomed regularly, but also sheared to keep them cool during warmer months. Throughout the time members are in the sheep project they will learn how to choose the perfect sheep for the division they've chosen to show in at fair, whether it be market, showmanship, or breeding. Members will also be taught the correct methods for shearing, grooming, feeding, portion sizes, housing, and living conditions, along with anything else they may need to know, such as what types of halters and lead ropes may work best. The sheep project is a wonderful choice for any youth who would like to be more involved with their animal project, but also a great choice for anyone looking to give something new a try.
